itstonedme: (Gold Christmas Tree)

By this time on Friday, I'm hoping I've been able to transplant myself into this picture. It has been a long time since I've stood (let alone glided) in a pair of skates, but when one has the good fortune to be in New York at Christmas time, even clinging to the boards at Rockefeller Center must count as an experience to be had. It's a girls getaway weekend, with the musical Billy Elliot on Saturday and brunch at the Plaza on Sunday, and a whole lot of sightseeing and window/discount shopping in amongst all that.

To all my friends staring down the barrel of your Slashababies, godspeed and good luck. If your muse is being tricky, toast it with several glasses of wine. While it might not help, you'll probably feel better about it.

Dear Dominic, our Merry: Happy Birthday, sweetheart!

And since it is December, and New York, we remember....

I thought you was Boston! Like the STORY! Yes, my friend and I have been talking about doing this for nearly a decade. It's her first time, and we are so up for this. If I'd known, I would have hunted down your playhouse. :D

No baby, I'm a New Yorker! Born and raised in Brooklyn. But I lived in the Boston area for about 6 years...

Oh wow, that looks gorgeous and Christmasy. Wish I was coming with you.

Great tip about the wine - I for one write sex best after a glass or two!

I wish you could have been there too. Let's keep buying those lottary tickets!

Re: wine as muse. Yes, I do recall that I may have first heard the merits of wetting one's literary sharpness from you. :)

Oh, have such a great time! I've never been to New York, but I bet Christmas would be the most magical time to go! And 'Billy Elliot' sounds beyond amazing. :D

Billy Elliot was really enjoyable. It's not a splashy production, but it's a good one, with some very talented young stars.

I hope that you'll be able to one day get to New York. There's far too much to see even in a month, but it is always great to feel the pulse of this city. And the people who live there are amazingly friendly.

Aren't the pictures fabulous? All courtesy to the Internet, of course. *g*. I know you love this city, and I found a hotel you may wish to keep in mind. I will email you about it.

Don't fall over. *snort* Is that a reference to looking up at all the tall buildings, or the fact that I have a habit of tripping on sidewalk cracks and ending up flat on my face? :)

Oh, we were in NY in December a few years ago and I loved it. We didn't go skating though since I was pregnant (hm, which means that it was not "a few," but ten years ago, lol.)

Have a wonderful time!

I had a wonderful time, but I must say that everyone from everywhere had the same idea as me, and the city was crazy busy along 5th Avenue and at the rinks on the Saturday. Not that there's any shortage of things to see and do, though. Never, in New York.

Do you know, I wasn't to far from this scene Friday night! Four friends had a get together, all of us celebrating December birthdays at a Greek restuarant right off Fifth Avenue. It was dinner and a movie night, as we went off to see THE TOURIST afterwards. My next theatre tickets are to DRIVING MS DAISY on 01Jan. We thought it a nice way to start off the New Year. Wish I had known you were in town; would have loved meeting with you - drinks and dinner any time!!! Especially drinks! Were you to thank for the nice weather Friday and Saturday? Guess your departure is why the heavens opened on Sunday eh? As you can tell, yes I live right here in New York, on the island itself! Glad you enjoyed your time visting my city.

It was fabulous, and I have to tell you that New York now is not the New York that I last visited in the early 80s. I felt safe all the time, and the people everywhere were incredibly friendly. And for such a large city, it was clean! And goodness gracious, there is some Big Money in that town. :)

I wish I could take credit for the weather, but in general, I think we Canadians can only take credit for those times when an Arctic blast lands on your head.

And we were very close -- I was on 46th right off 5th. Another time, for sure. Again, best wishes for your birthday -- it sounds like you started the celebrations in good form.

Excellent. And I like the little Santa before your user name. I should check how I can get one.
